Allan Closson has been an innovator in business strategy,
technology and analysis for more than twenty years, serving both as an
employee in operating companies and as a consultant.
After graduation from Purdue University with a B.S. in
Industrial Engineering, Closson became Data Processing Manager of
Columbus, Indiana's Bartholomew County Hospital. There he
implemented data collection and financial systems, was responsible for
long-range planning and performed Industrial Engineering studies while
simultaneously completing an MBA in finance from Indiana
University.
While a member of the corporate planning group at Schneider
National, the nation's largest truckload carrier, Closson created
comprehensive financial models which were used to determine equipment
trade cycles, tax strategies and financing options. At Schneider, he
organized and implemented the truckload industry’s first network planning
models used to set market strategies and pricing guidelines. He led
successful turnarounds in two operating companies, emphasizing market
strategy and cost reduction respectively.
As Vice President Strategic Planning andTechnology of Builders
Transport, Inc., Closson developed a major corporate restructuring
program that reduced operating costs by more than $8 million per year,
reduced corporate debt by more than $20 million and improved net income by
$15 million over three years. He also led startups of new services and was
involved with venture capital investments and acquisitions.
Closson is now based in Nashville, Tennessee where he performs
consulting assignments in a wide variety of companies. He is the founder
of the Invest Nashville program offered through the Nashville Area
Chamber of Commerce. He is a President's Board of Advisors member of the
Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce where he was awarded the Outstanding Volunteer
of the Year in 2003-2004 for the Membership and Marketing Group and serves on the
Small and Entrepreneurial Business Advisory Board. His recent interests include
serving as board president of the Actors Repertory Theatre of Sedona and as a
Patient Services Volunteer with Alive Hospice. |
